AC Newport launched on January 12, 2026, as a new initiative to elevate football (soccer) in Newport and the surrounding Aquidneck Island, a region renowned globally as a sporting hub for sailing, tennis, and golf. Recognizing the significant underrepresentation of football, along with decentralized and underperforming youth programs, the organization is building from the ground up to address these gaps and foster growth in the sport.
