The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is an international development organization committed to enhancing the quality of life for communities in the Kyrgyz Republic. Operating in the country since 2003, AKF implements a range of integrated, innovative, and gender-sensitive programmes that reach all seven oblasts. Our work is carried out in close partnership with the Mountain Societies Development Support Programme (MSDSP), a locally registered public foundation and an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation, which focuses on improving livelihoods in mountainous rural and semi-urban areas. In alignment with the Kyrgyz Republic's national development goals, our key areas of focus include: Early Childhood Development: Creating high-quality resources and facilities for lifelong learning. Education: Enhancing access to quality education. Entrepreneurship: Empowering women and youth through our Accelerate Prosperity programme, launched in 2019 to champion small and growing businesses. Climate Resilience, Food, and Agriculture: Building sustainable solutions for rural communities. Healthcare & Civil Society: Strengthening local institutions and improving community health. Our Mission: AKF aspires to improve the quality of life and self-reliance of young people and women in the Kyrgyz Republic through inclusive and innovative community-driven solutions, constant learning, and integrity.
