Al-Rifqa Organization for Community Peace (ROCP) is an Iraqi nonprofit working to reduce stray dog and cat overpopulation through humane, evidence-based solutions. We implement TNVR (Trap–Neuter–Vaccinate–Return) programs alongside community education and legal advocacy to address both the root causes and long-term impact of stray animal populations. 📍 Our active field programs operate in Baghdad, with expansion efforts in Mosul. We work in coordination with local authorities, veterinary clinics, and community police, and have obtained official approvals to support humane population management. Our work focuses on: • TNVR programs (sterilization & vaccination) • Public awareness and behavior change • Legal advocacy and policy support • Capacity building for volunteers and veterinarians ROCP is a member of the United Against Rabies Forum and part of the Asia for Animals Coalition, contributing to global efforts under the One Health approach and aligning with international best practices in humane animal population management. ⚠️ The challenge: Despite ongoing efforts, many sterilized animals are still lost due to low public awareness and weak enforcement of animal protection measures. Our goal: To scale humane TNVR programs and strengthen legal frameworks across Iraq, building safer, healthier communities for both people and animals.
