Founded in 2002 by Luca Coscioni, an economist suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis who passed away in 2006, the Luca Coscioni Association for Freedom of Scientific Research is a social promotion association registered in the National Register of the Third Sector. Committed to upholding human and civil rights, in particular the right to science, to health (including reproductive health), and to freedom over one’s own body and life, the Luca Coscioni Association has offices in Rome and Milan, and is organised nationwide into ‘Coscioni Cells’ run by activists and volunteers. The Luca Coscioni Association is sustained by the people who choose to join and become members each year, by individual donations, by donations via the 5x1000 scheme, by contributions from businesses, and by partnerships with other organisations. We support campaigns and initiatives in defence of rights and health, the self-determination of people with illnesses and disabilities, for free and informed motherhood, for life and end-of-life choices, for the rights of researchers, for the freedom of scientific research and the right to enjoy the benefits of its progress. http://www.associazionelucacoscioni.it/donation
