Over 70% of the Earth's surface is covered by water, yet wave energy remains one of the most underutilized renewable resources. Atargis Energy is changing that. Founded in 2010 by U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) researchers, Atargis has spent over a decade pioneering a breakthrough in ocean wave energy conversion. Unlike traditional buoyancy and drag-based technologies, our Directional Cycloidal Ocean Wave Energy Converter (CycWEC) operates fully submerged, leveraging lift-based mechanics—the same principle that revolutionized wind turbines. This real-time controlled system enables linear scalability, unlocking megawatt-scale, grid-ready power at a cost competitive with established renewables. The CycWEC is the only wave energy technology capable of delivering reliable, efficient, and cost-effective power from nearshore waves. Atargis is redefining the future of renewable energy—transforming ocean waves into a powerful, untapped source of clean electricity. For more information, visit www.atargis.com.
