For 40 years, Better Decisions has been walking alongside women impacted by incarceration, equipping them with the decision-making skills and mentorship to build a different life. We are a volunteer-driven organization, drawing women of all ages and backgrounds who want to work one-on-one with someone ready to grow. Our program combines individualized mentoring with group classes, a unique educational experience that teaches life-planning and problem-solving skills to women in the Nashville area. Since 1985, over 1,200 volunteers have been trained as mentors, and together they have helped more than 1,500 women complete the Better Decisions curriculum. Our program is tailored for women with challenging backgrounds and incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach, at its core.
