Bigwi Film is a Kigali-based film agency dedicated to gender equity and social transformation through the power of visual storytelling. Founded in 2022 by Pierre-Jean Fasan, a feminist filmmaker, we specialize in documentaries, video content, and media campaigns that challenge gender stereotypes, promote positive masculinity, and amplify women’s voices. At Bigwi, we harness the power of cinema to raise awareness, educate, and inspire action. We believe that films have a unique ability to reflect reality, spark conversation, and drive progress. Our focus is on gender-based violence, using storytelling to amplify voices, challenge stereotypes, and advocate for a world where everyone can live freely and safely, regardless of gender. Rooted in commitment, empathy, and action, we collaborate with screenwriters, directors, actors, and advocacy organizations to create authentic, impactful narratives. By representing diverse voices and shedding light on marginalized stories, we aim to challenge the status quo and foster meaningful dialogue. We partner with NGOs, media outlets, and public and private sector actors worldwide, tailoring our approach to each project’s unique needs. With expertise in gender issues, we craft compelling scripts and project structures, ensuring that our work—whether small-scale initiatives or large productions—delivers real impact. Our films and documentaries have been showcased by major institutions such as UN Women and OIF, reaching global audiences and sparking conversations on gender-based violence. We take pride in the role our productions have played in raising awareness, shaping attitudes, and driving tangible change. Bigwi Film Agency upholds the highest standards of ethics, inclusivity, and social responsibility. We foster safe and respectful working environments, promote diversity at all levels, and actively support awareness, advocacy, and victim support initiatives.
