Selskapet ble etablert i Moss 6. juni 1991 under navnet Svendsen & Harstad Auto. I 1997 ble Fjellberg Bilsenter i Fredrikstad kjøpt opp og i i 1998 fulgte Sarpsborg Auto etter. I 2004 ble alle avdelilngene samlet under et felles firmanavn: Bilbutikk1. I 2006 fikk vi en avdeling i Follo og i 2015 tok vi over Volvo agenturet i Indre Østfold. Høsten 2016 åpnet vi enda en avdeling i Sarpsborg som forhandler Renault og fritidskjøretøy. Andre medlemmer i Bilbutikk1 er Skade og Lakk, Moss Billakkering, BilRessurs og Easy Rent Herzt.
