30 years of supporting women with kindness, love and compassion. Birth Companions is a national charity supporting pregnant women, mothers and their babies through some of the most difficult and complex situations. For 30 years we have been supporting women with kindness, love and compassion. We work with women in prisons, the community, and in the family courts, when they are facing systemic inequity and disadvantage. We have shown what is possible when support is coordinated, trauma-informed and rooted in care and dignity. Our Lived Experience Programme develops the power and expertise of women who have faced inequality and disadvantage during pregnancy and early motherhood. Our Birth Companions Institute drives radical change through research, public affairs, campaigns, consultancy, the law and the media, with a wide range of partners. Lasting change comes from centering women’s voices and lived experience to tackle issues that span health, justice, immigration, social care and beyond. Our 2030 vision is a future where no woman faces pregnancy or early motherhood without compassion, coordinated care and support that meets her needs and helps deliver the best possible outcomes for her and her children.
