ecoinvent is an internationally active, mission-driven organization devoted to supporting high-quality, science-based environmental assessments. Its activities include publishing and maintaining the ecoinvent database, a comprehensive life cycle inventory database that provides reliable and transparent information on the environmental impacts of various products and services. Companies, researchers, and policymakers use the database to analyze the environmental impact of their operations, make informed decisions, and develop sustainable practices. The ecoinvent database lays the foundation for life cycle assessment projects, eco-design, and product environmental information. Since 2003, it has enabled companies to manufacture their products more harmoniously with the environment, policymakers to implement new policies, and consumers to adopt more environmentally friendly behavior. The newest release of the ecoinvent database is ecoinvent v3.10
