Humanitarian Action for Africa (HAA) is a humanitarian and development organization founded in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), working to uphold human dignity, social justice, and the resilience of communities affected by crises. We implement multisectoral interventions that integrate humanitarian assistance, climate adaptation, protection, health, food security, education, and the strengthening of livelihoods. Our actions are centered on the real needs of vulnerable populations, particularly women, children, displaced persons, Indigenous peoples, and marginalized communities. HAA operates through an inclusive, locally led, ecological, and transformative approach, built on three core pillars: Anticipating crises: through disaster risk reduction and early humanitarian action; Responding effectively: by delivering dignified, context-appropriate, and community-centered assistance; Building resilience: by promoting local autonomy, community governance, and environmental equity. We are signatories of the Climate and Environment Charter for Humanitarian Organizations, and active members of several international platforms, including: The Start Network (DRC Hub); The Climate Finance Investment Network (CFIN); The Global Public Investment Network (GPIN); SID-US (Society for International Development – United States). Our work has received international recognition, notably by RedR UK, which published a case study highlighting our innovative approach to anticipatory action and inclusive forest governance in crisis settings. At HAA, we believe that the future of humanitarian action lies in local expertise, environmental justice, and genuine community participation. We act where vulnerability meets hope.
