The ICBS is the advanced research laboratory of the LIASTRA Institute, dedicated to the integration of biomedicine, neuroscience, and space sciences. Its goal is to investigate how the space environment, including microgravity, cosmic radiation, and isolation, affects biological systems, promoting discoveries that broaden the understanding of human adaptation beyond Earth and the fundamental limits of life. Operating at the frontier between basic science and translational research, the ICBS develops studies ranging from cellular and molecular models to simulations of analogous space missions, with the purpose of transforming scientific data into applied biomedical innovation. The center also fosters interdisciplinary scientific training, connecting researchers, students, and international institutions in collaborative projects in the areas of neuroplasticity in microgravity, space physiology, biotechnology, and human health in extreme environments. Guided by the principle of "Translating Space Science into Biomedical Innovation," the ICBS unites space exploration and biomedicine to produce knowledge that transcends boundaries, from Earth to space, from research to application.
