Who We Are: The National Primate Research Centers (NPRCs) are a national network of seven biomedical and behavioral research centers that know curiosity and creativity make breakthroughs possible. What We Do: We are dedicated to fighting diseases from Alzheimer's to Zika and improving human and animal health and lives worldwide. We partner with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and others to develop solutions for health issues by studying nonhuman primates, offering services such as computational data analysis, endocrine technologies, high throughput molecular profiling, next generation genomics and virologic and immunologic assays. The NPRCs also strategically incorporate complementary models, such as stem cells, and technological innovations, such as genomic editing, to make breakthrough discoveries of causes, preventions, treatments and cures possible. Why It Matters: These highly regulated studies provide unique insights not available with other models, are often the last step before human clinical trials and help validate the results of decade-long, basic science research projects.
