Reverend Clive Foster MBE is the UK’s first Windrush Commissioner, serving as an independent public appointee advocating for those affected by the Home Office Windrush Scandal. His mission is to drive urgent government reform and deliver justice through four key priorities: 1. Urgent reform of the Windrush Compensation Scheme 2. Better support for those affected by the Scandal, including help to apply for compensation and access to trauma recovery services 3. Ensuring everyone entitled to status receives it, by tackling barriers to application and raising awareness both in the UK and overseas 4. Preventing future injustices through reconciliation-led approaches that promote healing and accountability and secure this work beyond the current administration Acting independently and without fear or favour, the Commissioner amplifies the voices of survivors, holds government to account, and works to embed the lessons of the scandal into public policy. Central to this mission is restoring dignity, rebuilding trust, and ensuring survivors are defined by their extraordinary contributions to the UK and not by a scandal.
