It's not about the money it's about inspiring a generation, getting the inactive - active and helping the minority become the majority In 2016 the North East remains the unhealthiest region in the country and the cost of inactivity on our health services continues to soar at an alarming rate. The streets are no longer full of children laughing and playing as technology becomes ever more immersive and as mainstream sports dominate all forms of media as well as the national curriculum those that don't fit the mould are left standing against the wall whilst their peers are picked to play. At Power Through Sport CIC we see great potential in sport to engage and empower, in particular the ability of minority sports to capture the attention of those that have slipped through the net of mainstream activities. Specialising in Roller Sports and Ball Hockey we see first hand the ability of sport to reignite an appreciation and value for personal health and wellbeing and to motivate individuals to positive change. Through use of a Community and Schools programme spanning the region specialising in Roller Sports and Ball Hockey, the eventual establishment of a specialist multi-sport facility and a fully inclusive outreach programme targeting those historically considered 'hard-to-reach', Power Through Sport aims to inspire a generation and help further develop the once thriving Roller Sports and Hockey Community across the North East.
