Prism Lighting Design is a women-owned architectural lighting studio founded in 2020 by Principal Designer Maxime O’Rourke. From Portland and coastal Maine to Nantucket and across New England, we partner with architects, interior designers, and builders to craft human-centric lighting that blends art, science, and impeccable detailing. We design layered light that elevates architecture, supports well-being, and meets energy and dark-sky goals—backed by rigorous photometrics, clear documentation, and thoughtful coordination from concept through on-site aiming. What we do Architectural lighting design for hospitality, residential, and commercial projects Concept development, photometric analysis, and full lighting/control documentation Discreet architectural details that conceal sources and reduce glare Fixture specification and procurement guidance aligned to budget, lead time, and code Custom fixture design and decorative fixture curation for a cohesive visual language Mockups and samples to validate look, output, and color Fine art lighting and focal-point accenting Controls strategy: zones, scenes, load schedules, keypad layouts and engraving Multidisciplinary coordination with architects, MEP, electrical engineers, and AV/controls teams Field services: aim/focus, punch-list support, and final tuning for photography Cities we frequently serve: Portland, Burlington, Portsmouth, Boston, Cape & Islands—plus select projects nationwide. Let’s create spaces that feel as good as they look—day to night.
