Pusat Riset Konservasi Gajah dan Biodiversitas Hutan, abbreviated as PKGB, also known as the Research Center for Elephant Conservation and Biodiversity Forest, was established on May 22, 2018. PKGB is an organization engaged in elephant conservation and saving biodiversity in Aceh. The establishment of this institution was based on the high threat to elephants and wildlife as well as a decrease in quality in terms of biodiversity, which directly impacts animals and leads to extinction. This institution has a mission to save endangered species through increased research and management of biodiversity resources as one of the efforts to increase the contribution of Syiah Kuala University to Aceh Province. In addition, this institution also has a mission to improve education through various disciplines, including biodiversity, conservation, animal ecology, plant ecology, veterinary medicine, agriculture, social, and education. On the other hand, we highly uphold forest sustainability, reducing conflicts between humans and animals through empowering the economy of communities in forest border areas that directly impact forest sustainability.
