room19isaFactory. is a research and critique-driven architecture studio and digital platform from Johannesburg, South Africa. In community, and through ritual and mythology as worldbuilding knowledge systems and practice methods, we work to build the most comprehensive unlearning platform of the modern spatial practices that maintain land- and building-as-property, toward metabolizing new spatial futures, or what we term ‘unreasonable architectures’, which are architectures that operate beyond modern reason’s scope of meaning and economic measurability. Through digital critiques and provocations, conversation boards, built works, publications, the curation and design of exhibitions, and organizing and moderating of live events, we enable the reclamation of deep reflexivity of, about, and within the architecture profession. Send theme or precedent suggestions: room19isaFactory. wants to know what you’d like to unlearn, relearn, and critique in architecture. Message us your ideas of a theme to deep dive or a precedent or practice to critique. Submit your work for critique: room19isaFactory. wants to provide you with a panel of critics to co-think with and receive informed support. Students and practitioners can message us proposals, and your work can range from thesis work to practice work that will get built. Join our Discord Server to partake in a community of critique, co-thinking, and informed support. Hire/invite us: room19isaFactory. is always looking for creative, ambitious, courageous, and visionary clients and collaborators, so: send us your client briefs for architecture projects, hire us as researchers and/or critics on building and urban design proposals, commission us for curations and/or exhibitions, invite us as guest speakers, review panellists, workshop hosts, invite us for press features and opportunities.
