Safer Hands Health Initiative (SHI), a non-profit organisation located in Lagos, provides materials, skills and knowledge to healthcare workers, pregnant women and young ladies, especially those in low-income areas in Nigeria. Through our various programs and interventions, we seek to reduce maternal effectiveness and child mortality in Nigeria- the second highest in the world. We partner with other bodies, private entities, and governmental and non-governmental organisations to reach our targets. SHI was created out of the dire need to ensure positive changes and achieve a sustainable impact that would potentiate attaining a healthy, sustainable future, particularly in areas with current deficits in providing and achieving universal health coverage in Nigeria. Since its inception, we have engaged frontline rural healthcare workers through training and empowerment programs to improve their practice and achieve good outcomes for every delivery in underserved communities in southern and northern Nigeria. VISION To reduce maternal and child mortality and morbidity in Nigeria and Africa by extension to fulfil sustainable development goal 3 and other associated goals. MISSION SHI is a youth-led, non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to providing and ensuring access to basic maternal and child health care services in underserved communities. We ensure every pregnancy undergoes a safe delivery devoid of common complications through the education and empowerment of frontline rural healthcare providers and other involved stakeholders.
