Im März 2019 haben fast 40 Unternehmen, Personen und Organisationen einen Verein als Trägerschaft für das Label «SmartGridready» gegründet. Der Verein arbeitet seither gemeinsam mit seinen Mitgliedern an der Spezifikation des Labels und dem systematischen Aufbau des internationalen Netzwerkes von gleichgesinnten Initiativen. EnergieSchweiz unterstützt den Verein und seine Aktivitäten. Dieser bezweckt die Entwicklung, die Förderung und Verbreitung des Labels SmartGridready und tritt als neutrale Körperschaft auf. Mit dem Label wird eine Brücke zwischen Netz und Anlagen oder Systemen (wie Gebäude, Quartiere, etc.) gebaut.
