As a lifelong learning institute, SOAR’S mission is to enhance the quality of life of members (and participants) by providing diverse, non-credit academic lectures, classes. field trips, special events, film festivals, shared interest groups, study groups, and other activities. Each year, nearly 1,200 individuals from throughout metropolitan Detroit enjoy our programs. Anyone with a curious mind and a passion for learning is welcome. An early innovator in the field of lifelong learning, SOAR believes all older adults, regardless of their geography, economic status, gender, ability or digital competency can benefit from access to SOAR’s lifelong learning, academic-style lectures and classes. SOAR’s goal is to enable its members to experience better mental and emotional health while enjoying social connectedness, cultural events and personal growth.
