Somnus Psychology is a Hobart-based psychology practice created to support people with sleep difficulties, anxiety, treatment-resistant depression, stress, burnout, and emotional wellbeing in a thoughtful, evidence-informed, and deeply human way. The name Somnus comes from the Roman god of sleep, reflecting the central belief of the practice that rest is not a luxury, but a foundation for mental health, physical health, and everyday resilience. The practice also holds a longer-term vision to provide non-invasive neuromodulation based treatments for complex mood disorders, including treatment-resistant depression, using treatments like transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). Services Offered: 1) Individual Psychotherapy Evidence-based psychotherapies including ACT, DBT, CBT, somatic based polyvagal approaches, schema and parts work, and humanistic person centred care. 2) Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) neuromodulation Provided as an adjunct to psychotherapy or as a stand alone service for treatment-resistant depression & other psychiatric conditions. 3) CBT-i interventions for insomnia and sleep disorders Individual or group based CBT-i therapy programs. CBT-i is considered a first line of treatment of insomnia and other sleep related challenges.
