South Dunedin Community Network (SDCN) plays a crucial role in South Dunedin as a community hub, meeting space, and information conduit. Through providing a zero-cost and welcoming gathering space, hosting community hui, publishing and distributing a newsletter, and supporting other community organisations to run events and activities, the work of SDCN strengthens community belonging and wellbeing, enabling the 60,000+ people who call South Dunedin home to thrive. SDCN’s mission is to build connections and support people to create a vibrant and safe future together in South Dunedin. Our goals are to advocate for South Dunedin, to celebrate South Dunedin, to connect South Dunedin, and to communicate with and be informed by the people of South Dunedin. Through our Community Hui and Stakeholders meetings, as well as our financial umbrellaing, administrative and marketing support and other work, SDCN enables other community organisations and events to work for the benefit of locals. The organisations that SDCN collaborates with are not just service providers, they are catalysts for meaningful, long-term change within Dunedin’s communities and are crucial for the positive future of South Dunedin. These organisations include South Dunedin Future, Otago Housing Alliance, South Dunedin Street Art Trail, Social Impact Studio, and more.
