Stack Carbon is a climate tech startup pioneering a revolutionary model for community-led carbon removal in Africa that puts smallholder farmers at the center. By leveraging two carbon dioxide removal solutions uniquely suited to rural Africa - enhanced rock weathering and biochar - we entwine urgent atmospheric carbon removal with regeneration of degraded croplands and economic empowerment of marginalized groups. Our decentralized, farmer-focused model delivers measurable impact across three vital dimensions: Regenerating Soil Health: Through localized application of pulverized silicate rocks and biochar, we aim to significantly increase soil carbon sequestration, water retention, and nutrient availability – boosting crop yields and climate resilience. Enhancing Food Security: By increasing soil fertility and agricultural productivity, our model directly translates to greater food security and income for participating smallholder families and their communities. Community Empowerment: Our projects are jointly developed and managed hand-in-hand with smallholder cooperatives, ensuring solutions are locally-attuned and provide direct economic opportunities to Africa's farmers. At Stack Carbon, we envision a future where urgent carbon drawdown and equitable rural development go hand-in-hand. We are pioneering a scalable, farmer-centric model for carbon removal uniquely tailored to Africa's needs and strengths - delivering impact on the climate while tangibly improving livelihoods. Join us as we balance meaningful carbon action with sustainable community empowerment.
