The Sustainable Energy Services Company (SESCO) is a publicly held utility mandated to design, implement, and manage sustainable energy solutions for schools, hospitals, and health facilities across The Gambia. As the implementing agency for the Gambia Sustainable Energy Project (GSEP), SESCO is installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with battery storage at over 1,000 schools, 11 large hospitals, and 38 health facilities, enabling continuous education and healthcare delivery even in areas not connected to the national grid. Through partnerships with the European Union, the European Investment Bank, and local authorities, SESCO supports the Government of the Gambia in expanding access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and advancing Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7). SESCO’s mission is to expand clean energy access, strengthen public institutions, and promote climate-resilient energy solutions that improve lives and support national development.
