True North of Iowa is a locally owned and operated restoration company specializing in water, fire, mold, and structural drying services. As a leading restoration company, we are committed to restoring peace of mind amidst unforeseen disasters and pride ourselves on a holistic approach that goes beyond mere repairs. At the core of our mission is an unwavering commitment to quality, ensuring that every restoration project is executed with the utmost precision and expertise. Our team of skilled professionals is dedicated to delivering results that not only meet but exceed industry standards, providing clients with a seamless transition from crisis to recovery. Owners Erik Skovgard and Katie Hillyer are the true definition of rocket fuel: "the magic created when two entrepreneurial leaders — one a future-focused idea machine; the other a master of details and execution — combine their talents to propel their company to unimaginable heights." After working together at a local bank, they decided to team up to start True North of Iowa. Erik has been a resident of the Cedar Valley for more than three decades. He moved to Cedar Falls in 1991 to play baseball and attend the University of Northern Iowa. He took an internship with Lincoln Savings Bank as a senior and stayed for 28 years. He served as CEO for nine years, and in June of 2023, motivated to apply his corporate experience and financial acumen to build his own business. Erik left the bank to start a consulting adventure. Similar to Erik, Katie came to the Cedar Valley in 2005 to attend the University of Northern Iowa (although, she didn't play baseball) and never left. She spent more than a decade working for UNI's Wilson College of Business before going back into the private sector. She currently serves as COO of Wayne, a QSR technology solutions company. What sets True North of Iowa apart from other restoration companies is our deep-rooted values of Ingenuity, Excellence, Humility, Hustle, and Love.
