A Winchester-based charity that promotes and protects the good health of patients, family, and friends affected by cancer. The Winchester Cancer Sanctuary provides holistic care, activities, and therapies; comprising support, counselling, meditation, massage, reflexology, and yoga as well as a comprehensive cancer information library. Purpose and mission: Winchester is a growing city, yet no local cancer support service exists for its population. The Winchester Cancer Sanctuary aims to change that. A local charity, Winchester Cancer Sanctuary will provide free holistic care and support to people – and families – affected by cancer in an informal, non-institutional environment. Its’ aim is to enable guests to manage the physical and emotional impact of living with, through, and beyond a cancer diagnosis. Services will include confidential counselling and support alongside activities including meditation, massage, reflexology, yoga, and tai chi. Therapies will comprise, but not be limited to, lymphatic massage, acupuncture, reiki, and EFT (emotional freedom techniques). The Winchester Cancer Sanctuary will not provide curative or diagnostic medical benefits to beneficiaries relating to their cancer diagnoses nor is it in a way a medical setting. A comprehensive cancer information library will contain information on living well with, and after, cancer as well as credibly sourced material on the signs and symptoms of cancer to promote early detection. Establishment: The Winchester Cancer Sanctuary is a local charity run by a board of trustees and is a registered charity (no. 1209047) with the Charity Commission.
