Job description
A Japan-based pharmaceutical affiliate is seeking a Legal Manager to oversee local legal matters, reporting directly to the Head of Legal & Compliance. The role provides hands-on legal support across the business, including legal consultation, contract review (Japanese/English), management of external law firms, litigation support, corporate secretarial matters, and development of internal policies and processes.
The position also plays a key role in implementing global regulations, improving legal workflows, and delivering internal legal training, supporting compliant and efficient business operations in a lean Requirements The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in an international pharmaceutical company in Japan, preferably with legal qualification and some law firm exposure.
They bring strong analytical and drafting skills, are native in Japanese, and are professionally fluent in English for contract work. Personally, they are a clear communicator and team player, demonstrate flexibility, integrity, and broad perspective, and show a strong willingness to learn, including pharmaceutical compliance topics.
