Job Overview Our client is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to lead accounting operations and ensure the integrity of financial management across all business functions.
The role involves overseeing financial reporting, compliance, and control processes while providing analytical insights that support business performance and growth. The successful candidate will act as a key advisor to management on matters of cost efficiency, financial planning, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and internal policies. Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all reconciliations. Manage statutory and tax compliance including VAT, PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, and Withholding Tax returns.
Coordinate and support both internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to company policies and accounting standards. Develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and financial performance analyses to guide management decisions. Maintain and enhance internal financial controls and processes to strengthen operational efficiency.
Conduct variance and trend analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities and financial risks. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff to ensure high performance and continuous improvement. Collaborate with department heads and senior management to support strategic planning and financial decision-making.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA (K) or equivalent professional qualification (ACCA or similar) required. Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, must be within logistics, import/export, FMCG, or manufacturing industries. Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting, and local tax compliance.
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
