Mechanical Design Engineer – Concept & Advanced Vehicles – Automotive Industry We. Quel is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in concept development and early-phase engineering on behalf of one of our clients, a global leader in the automotive industry. This is an assignment where you will contribute to the development of advanced concept vehicles, working with cutting-edge technologies such as electrification, hydrogen, and e-Mining.

The role is fast-paced and requires the ability to deliver design work at a concept level within tight timelines, in an environment with a high degree of uncertainty and evolving requirements. You will collaborate closely with R&D, Production, and cross-functional stakeholders to create innovative technical solutions that are both feasible and aligned with project goals.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Concept Development Contribute to concept development and early-phase design of advanced vehicles Create 3D models and concept-level drawings in Catia V5 Support development of technical solutions within cooling systems, braking systems, steering, and battery installations Perform or support FEM calculations to validate design concepts Collaboration & Delivery Collaborate closely with R&D, Production, and cross-functional stakeholders Participate in vehicle layout work and ensure design feasibility Deliver design work at a "good enough" concept level within tight timelines Contribute to continuous development and improvement of technical solutions Required Qualifications Minimum 7 years of experience within mechanical design or a related field Strong experience from concept development and early-phase engineering Proven experience working with Catia V5 (3D) Good knowledge of Enovia or similar PLM systems Experience in designing BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) solutions Understanding of vehicle layout and system integration Knowledge of FEM calculations for design validation Ability to work in fast-paced environments with evolving requirements Fluent in English Meriting Experience within cooling systems, braking systems, steering, or battery components Swedish language skills Background from heavy vehicle or truck development Assignment Details Start: May 2026 Duration: Until April 2027 Location: Södertälje, Sweden Setup: Hybrid
