Job description
CMH is a busy, medium-sized ED that sees around 110-150 patients per day (50,000 per year). There are 6 shifts daily and each shift is scheduled for 10 hours; all shifts start with duty in the acute region and subsequent transition to subacute. All new EPs will be scheduled in shift overlap with other physicians. Most shift-hours have a significant physician overlap system in place by default, especially during peak volume hours.
The ED is brand new, having opened only in 2020, with excellent colleague and specialist support. There is a 12-bed ICU that is covered 24/7 and internal medicine admits patients at all hours. Other admitting services include general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, pediatrics, psychiatry, and oncology. There is regional coverage for urology, ENT, spine surgery, plastic surgery, and nephrology.
The ED has x-ray and CT 24/7, ultrasound 15 hrs 7 days a week, and MRI 12 hrs per day. EPs will be responsible for both the acute and sub-acute areas of the department.
- Emergency Physicians (EP) would ideally hold an FRCPC or CCFP-EM designation
- Physicians without the EM designations, who have experience and comfort in emergency medicine will be considered Benefits Positions are remunerated through a generous Alternate Funding Arrangement (AFA) with shadow billing as well. CMH is in the process of completing an innovative Capital Redevelopment Project that has provided the hospital with brand-new facilities in Emergency, Critical Care, Inpatient Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and Mental Health.
