Scientific Data & Informatics Lead
Job description
Our client, a global pharmaceutical leader, is looking for a Scientific Data & Informatics Lead to bridge scientific research and enterprise IT. You will work closely with Discovery Research, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Cheminformatics, and IT teams to deliver scalable scientific data solutions supporting drug discovery and development.
The ideal candidate combines scientific informatics expertise, pharmaceutical R&D knowledge, and technology leadership, with experience integrating scientific applications, managing complex projects, and enabling FAIR data practices.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Discovery Research, Data Science, Bioinformatics and Chemistry teams to understand scientific data needs. Lead integration of scientific software into the existing enterprise application landscape. Deliver technology solutions supporting Discovery & Development activities. Ensure business continuity across scientific informatics platforms.
Drive FAIR data adoption and scientific data governance. Collaborate with technical SMEs to integrate structured and unstructured scientific data. Manage scientific IT projects from planning through delivery. Improve operational efficiency and scalability of scientific platforms. Support repeatable IT processes and standards across R&D.
Act as the liaison between scientific stakeholders and IT teams.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in Scientific Informatics or Scientific IT. Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industry experience. Strong understanding of Discovery Research and Drug Development. Experience with scientific software and laboratory informatics. Knowledge of FAIR Data principles. Experience with SDLC and enterprise application integration.
Strong project management and stakeholder management skills. Experience working with scientific data management platforms. Ability to communicate effectively with both scientists and technical teams. Preferred Experience Cheminformatics Bioinformatics Genomics Chemistry data platforms Biological data management Workflow management tools (KNIME, Pipeline Pilot, etc.)
