Job description

About EH Group Engineering EHG is developing cutting-edge fuel cell technology for heavy duty mobility and large-scale stationary power applications. Our uniquely redesigned product is a significantly more compact fuel cell with high power density and lower costs of production. Faced with the challenges of climate change and the transition to a decentralised energy system, EHG seeks to provide high performance and cost-effective fuel cell solutions to our clients and partners.

To help achieve our vision of a decarbonised future we are seeking a Senior Electrochemist specialised in fuel cells to lead the electrochemical testing and characterisation of our membrane electrode assemblies, stacks and materials, and to translate deep electrochemical insight into better-performing, more durable products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrochemical testing and characterisation of MEAs, catalysts, membranes and stacks
  • Design and run test campaigns: polarisation, EIS, cyclic voltammetry, durability and AST
  • Analyse degradation, ageing and failure mechanisms and drive root-cause investigations
  • Develop and standardise electrochemical test protocols, methods and data-analysis workflows
  • Correlate electrochemical performance with materials, process and design parameters
  • Guide catalyst, membrane and MEA selection and optimisation for performance, durability and cost
  • Support the build-up and operation of electrochemical test benches and diagnostics
  • Advise design, materials, process and test teams and mentor junior scientists/engineers Skills and Experience Required:
  • MSc or PhD in electrochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or a related field is mandatory
  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience in fuel cell (ex. PEM) testing and electrochemical characterisation
  • Deep hands-on expertise with EIS, CV, polarisation, durability/AST and diagnostic techniques
  • Strong understanding of MEA, catalyst, membrane and GDL behaviour and degradation mechanisms
  • Experience with test bench operation, instrumentation and electrochemical measurement equipment
  • Strong data analysis and modelling skills (ex. Python, MATLAB or equivalent)
  • Team player able to work autonomously with internal and external experts
  • Excellent spoken and written English is mandatory; French/German is a plus Start date: Immediately
