Financial Accountant

Overseeing the integrity of financial records and month-end accounting processes, this key position supports statutory compliance and accurate reporting across a tour operations group. Working closely with the Group Financial Manager, the role contributes directly to strengthening internal financial controls, driving operational efficiency, and supplying reliable management insights to support ongoing growth.

Based on-site in Bryanston, Johannesburg, this full-time role provides exposure to a diverse scope of accounting, operational, and strategic finance activities within an expanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end month-end accounting processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and account reconciliations. Prepare accurate monthly financial information up to trial balance to support management reporting. Perform and review detailed balance sheet and bank reconciliations. Support VAT, PAYE, and statutory compliance requirements, managing both reconciliations and submissions.

Maintain the fixed asset register and execute monthly depreciation calculations. Compile supporting schedules and documentation for year-end financial reporting and external audits. Provide financial analysis, reporting assistance, and support on ad hoc finance projects. Review customer and supplier reconciliations while resolving complex account queries.

Support and guide finance administrators to maintain process accuracy and procedural compliance. Identify and implement opportunities to enhance internal controls, reporting efficiency, and accounting processes.

Requirements

Essential Requirements Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Degree or Diploma). 3 to 5 years of commercial accounting experience. Demonstrated experience managing month-end processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Solid working knowledge of South African VAT, payroll taxes, and accounting compliance standards.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail. Required Software Skills Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Experience with accounting systems (Sage Intacct experience is advantageous).
