MES (Tulip) Engineer Simo. Tech has an opportunity for a Junior MES (Tulip) Engineer to join our team, supporting one of our multinational clients based in Cork. This is a hands-on delivery role where you will contribute to the design, configuration, testing, and support of MES solutions built in Tulip. You will work closely with experienced Engineers, the Project Manager, and Technical Lead to help deliver validated digital manufacturing applications, including workflows for Electronic Batch Records, Weigh & Dispense, equipment logbooks, and other shopfloor execution processes.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to directly shape how manufacturing activities are digitised and executed on the shopfloor, ensuring critical operational steps are captured accurately and compliantly. You will support the implementation of structured delivery practices, including Agile/Scrum ways of working, helping the team maintain clarity, consistency, and steady progress across development and testing activities.

The ideal candidate will bring strong organisational and communication skills, with a willingness to learn MES systems, validation practices (CSV), and Tulip application development within a GxP-regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Support the design, configuration, and maintenance of MES applications using Tulip. Develop and update simple Tulip apps/workflows to digitise shopfloor activities. Work with manufacturing SMEs to understand manual or paper-based processes and translate them into digital workflows. Support capture of manufacturing tasks (e.

g. sampling, manual checks, equipment interactions, confirmations). Assist in testing (SAT/UAT) of MES applications and document results clearly. Support Computer System Validation (CSV) activities including documentation and execution of test scripts. Help ensure all system changes are correctly tested, documented, and compliant with GxP requirements.

Log and track issues, enhancements, and actions during project delivery. Work closely with senior engineers, project leads, and validation teams. Support data integrity and traceability across MES workflows. Participate in continuous improvement of shopfloor digital solutions. Assist in maintaining clear documentation for workflows, configurations, and test evidence.

Requirements

Key Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline. 1–3 years of experience in a technical, systems, automation, validation, or IT support role (pharma/life sciences experience desirable but not essential). Interest in manufacturing systems, digital tools, and shopfloor operations.

Exposure to or willingness to learn MES systems, ideally Tulip. Basic understanding of testing, validation, or structured documentation practices (CSV experience a plus). Strong attention to detail and willingness to work in regulated environments. Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, manufacturing).

Proactive attitude with willingness to learn. Take ownership of assigned tasks and drive progress of project activities. Ability to manage multiple small tasks and priorities with guidance from senior team members.
