Outbound Business Development Representative (BDR) About the Role We are looking for a proactive and results-driven Outbound Business Development Representative (BDR) to support our sales team by identifying, engaging, and qualifying prospective customers. In this role, you will research target companies, identify key decision-makers, conduct outbound prospecting, qualify opportunities, and maintain accurate CRM records throughout the sales process.
Beyond generating qualified leads, you'll be expected to maintain clear communication, provide regular campaign updates, and take ownership of ensuring outbound activities remain consistent and productive. Success in this role is measured not only by the volume of activities completed, but also by the quality of opportunities generated, consistency of execution, and reliability of communication.
Key Responsibilities
Prospect Research & List Building Research target companies within agreed industries and markets. Identify key decision-makers using prospecting tools and online research. Build, maintain, and continuously improve prospect lists. Source additional prospects beyond client-provided lists when appropriate. Outbound Prospecting Conduct outbound cold calls and outreach to prospective customers.
Professionally engage gatekeepers and decision-makers. Qualify prospects based on agreed criteria. Generate qualified opportunities for the sales team. Maintain consistent follow-up activities to maximize conversion opportunities. Campaign Management Maintain momentum across assigned campaigns through consistent daily prospecting.
Prioritize follow-up opportunities and manage outreach pipelines effectively. Ensure campaigns continue without unnecessary delays or inactivity. Identify opportunities to improve campaign performance proactively. CRM & Data Management Maintain accurate CRM records, prospect notes, and activity history. Update lead statuses and follow-up schedules promptly.
Ensure prospect data remains organized, accurate, and up to date. Client Communication & Reporting Maintain regular communication with clients regarding campaign progress. Submit activity reports and campaign updates on schedule. Respond to client inquiries professionally and promptly. Escalate blockers, risks, or support requirements early to prevent delays.
Provide visibility into completed activities, upcoming priorities, and campaign progress. Continuous Improvement Apply feedback to improve messaging, prospecting techniques, and communication. Continue developing product knowledge and understanding of the client's industry. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and campaign outcomes.
Adapt to evolving prospecting strategies and sales processes. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Performance may be measured through: Qualified opportunities generated Meaningful conversations with decision-makers Consistency of outbound prospecting activities CRM accuracy and data quality Timeliness and accuracy of reporting Client communication and responsiveness Follow-up consistency Ability to apply feedback and continuously improve Requirements Qualifications Essential Previous experience in outbound sales, business development, lead generation, or appointment setting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Confidence speaking with business owners and decision-makers. Strong research and internet navigation skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. High level of accountability and ownership. Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication.
Strong attention to detail. Preferred Experience working with Australian or international clients. Experience using CRM platforms. Experience using LinkedIn for business prospecting. Experience using lead generation platforms such as Apollo, Lusha, ZoomInfo, or similar. Experience using LinkedIn Sales Navigator or comparable prospecting tools.

Maintains organized CRM records and prospect data. Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and reliability. Builds trust through transparent communication and consistent execution.
