Job description

Position Context The CAE Topology Optimization & Chassis Durability Lead Engineer is responsible for leading virtual development activities related to chassis structural durability, fatigue life, and lightweight optimization. The role serves as the technical focal point for durability simulation, load path optimization, and chassis weight reduction, ensuring achievement of vehicle performance, reliability, mass, and cost targets.

Position Responsibilities Lead CAE durability and topology optimization activities for chassis systems, including: Front and Rear Suspension Subframes, Control Arms Steering Systems Wheel-End Components Cross Members and Mounting Structures Define and execute simulation plans aligned with chassis durability, strength, stiffness, weight, and cost targets.

Perform and guide: Static Structural Analysis Nonlinear FE Analysis Fatigue and Durability Analysis Multi-body Load Analysis Load Path Assessment Topology, Topography, and Size Optimization Develop and maintain CAE models for chassis systems and correlate simulation results with physical durability test data. Identify root causes of structural failures and provide optimized engineering solutions.

Drive lightweight design initiatives while maintaining durability and vehicle attribute requirements. Collaborate closely with Chassis Design, Vehicle Dynamics, and Vehicle Integration teams. Support proving ground durability testing and correlation activities. Review supplier CAE deliverables and provide technical guidance.

Mentor junior engineers and promote CAE best practices, standards, and methodologies. Support benchmarking studies and competitive analysis related to chassis durability and lightweighting.

Requirements

Education

/ Professional Knowledge Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. Minimum 8 years of experience in automotive CAE, with strong focus on chassis durability and structural optimization. Skills & Experience Strong knowledge of chassis systems, structural mechanics, fatigue theory, and vehicle load cases.

Experience with automotive CAE tools such as: Hyper. Mesh Opti. Struct /Nastran Abaqus n. Code/FEMFAT Adams LS-DYNA Expertise in: Chassis Durability Analysis Structural Strength and Stiffness Assessment Topology Optimization Lightweight Design Development Welded and Bolted Joint Durability Experience correlating CAE results with proving ground and laboratory durability testing.

Good understanding of EV chassis structures and battery integration requirements. Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities. Experience working with cross-functional teams and global suppliers. Effective leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple vehicle programs and deliver under aggressive timelines.
