Job description
The Chief of Staff serves as a key advisor and strategic partner to the CEO, responsible for managing high-priority projects and ensuring effective execution across the organization. This is a hands-on leadership role with genuine ownership — not a support function. You will coordinate executive efforts, implement strategic initiatives, and drive the company’s operational priorities across four areas:
- Executive Support & Advisory Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, offering insights and recommendations on strategic and operational matters. Serve as the primary liaison between the CEO and key internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership and key partners.
- Strategic Planning & Execution Collaborate with the CEO to develop and refine the company’s strategic vision, goals, and priorities. Lead the planning, tracking, and execution of high-impact projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and develop solutions to keep initiatives on track. Co-build and monitor the annual budget with the CEO and BU leads; produce monthly financial reporting (P&L, cash flow, KPIs). Oversee relationships with local accounting and legal service providers (Kenya, Nigeria, France and others).
- Special Projects & Initiatives Lead special projects from conception through to execution and evaluation. Conduct field research, interviews, and data analysis; develop and manage pilot projects for strategic initiatives. Own end-to-end delivery of cross-functional projects: process redesign, new country launches, tool integrations.
- People & Team Leadership Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence within the executive team and broader organization. Provide technical expertise to teams, helping them structure processes and tools to increase efficiency and impact. Identify and address organizational development needs to ensure high performance. Harmonize HR policies across all entities (Kenya, France, Senegal, Mexico, Vietnam and others): contracts, onboarding, performance management. Coordinate key strategic recruitments with local HR teams across geographies.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Management, or a related field. 3–5 years in strategic consulting, investment, or a Chief of Staff role in a fast-growing startup. Strong analytical and strategic thinking — able to develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; able to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
High-level organizational skills; autonomous and discreet with sensitive business information. Adaptable in a fast-paced, lean environment. Fluent in English; French is a strong plus.
Benefits
Real ownership from day one — not slides and minutes. Direct access to the CEO and genuine influence on decisions that matter. Nairobi is Optimetriks’ strategic hub for Africa. In a lean team, you will learn faster than anywhere else: no bureaucracy, no waiting for validation. The culture is entrepreneurial, direct, and international — high standards, no ego.
