ROLE OVERVIEW As a Senior Software Engineer – BODS Support, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, availability, performance, and operational excellence of enterprise data integration and ETL solutions built on SAP Business. Objects Data Services (BODS). You will provide Level 2 and Level 3 production support, proactively monitor data pipelines, troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
The role requires strong expertise in SAP BODS operations, ETL support processes, incident and problem management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to maintain critical business data flows. You will serve as a key contributor in improving platform reliability, operational efficiency, and service delivery excellence across global enterprise data environments.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Production Support & Operations
- Monitor and support SAP BODS production environments to ensure continuous availability and reliable execution of business-critical ETL jobs
- Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve ETL job failures, data load issues, and system performance bottlenecks
- Manage production incidents and service requests while meeting established SLAs and operational KPIs
- Perform impact analysis and coordinate resolution activities during major incidents
- Support scheduled releases, migrations, and deployment activities across environments
- Participate in on-call support rotations when required Incident & Problem Management
- Conduct detailed root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring production issues
- Drive permanent fixes and preventative measures to improve platform stability
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, database, and cloud teams for issue resolution
- Create and maintain operational runbooks, knowledge articles, and troubleshooting guides
- Support change management activities and ensure compliance with organizational processes Platform Reliability & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze ETL processing trends and recommend optimization opportunities
- Improve monitoring, alerting, and observability across BODS platforms
- Automate repetitive operational tasks to increase support efficiency
- Contribute to operational excellence initiatives and platform modernization efforts
- Support disaster recovery, backup validation, and business continuity testing activities Stakeholder Management & Governance
- Communicate incident status, risks, and resolutions to business and technical stakeholders
- Participate in governance reviews and operational service meetings
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security, audit, and data governance requirements
- Provide operational reporting, SLA metrics, and service performance dashboards Requirements JOB REQUIREMENTS Required Experience
- 4–7 years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL Support, or Application Support functions
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience supporting SAP BODS production environments
- Experience in handling enterprise-scale ETL operations and data movement platforms
- Strong exposure to incident management, problem management, and service operations processes
- Experience supporting business-critical systems within SLA-driven environments Essential skills
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP BODS administration, monitoring, scheduling, and troubleshooting
- Expertise in Data Flows, Workflows, Job Server management, Repository management, and Batch Job execution
- Strong SQL and database querying skills (Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, etc.)
- Experience analyzing ETL failures, performance bottlenecks, and data quality issues
- Knowledge of Control-M, Autosys, or enterprise scheduling tools
- Experience with production monitoring tools and operational dashboards
- Understanding of ETL architecture, data warehousing, and data lineage concepts
- Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities Desired skills
- Exposure to cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Working knowledge of SAP BW, SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, or SAP SLT integrations
- Familiarity with Service. Now Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes
- Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, or Datadog
- Experience in DevOps and CI/CD-enabled ETL deployments
- Exposure to AI Ops and predictive operational monitoring capabilities
- Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and compliance controls
