HVAC Startup Technician - Commercial

Large and established commercial HVAC contractor serving the Greater Houston area is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Start-Up Technician to join the team. One will be responsible for the final commissioning and start-up of newly installed commercial HVAC systems, ensuring all equipment operates at peak efficiency and meets manufacturer specifications.

• Perform comprehensive start-ups on commercial equipment, including RTUs, chillers, VRF systems, split systems, and building automation controls.
• Verify proper installation, electrical connections, refrigerant charges, and airflow balancing.
• Conduct functional performance testing and troubleshoot start-up issues to ensure systems meet design intent.
• Complete detailed start-up reports and commissioning documentation for clients and project managers.
• Provide technical support and training to facility managers or end-users on system operation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

Requirements

4 or more years of experience in commercial HVAC service or installation with solid exposure to startups. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of commercial HVAC, refrigeration cycles, electrical troubleshooting, and HVAC control sequences. Certifications: EPA Universal Certification; NATE certification or trade school diploma desired.

Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
