Senior Bookkeeper
Job description
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their finance team. This is a full-function bookkeeping role with exposure to accountant-level responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of the finance function in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare monthly Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and management reports. Process and reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, and General Ledger accounts. Reconcile debtors and creditors to the General Ledger. Monitor and review financial transactions to ensure accuracy. Process and authorize journal entries. Review and assist with creditors' reconciliations.
Prepare monthly payroll journals and reconcile staff loan accounts. Prepare the finance function for year-end audits, including audit schedules and supporting documentation. Assist with budgets and financial planning. Prepare and submit statutory returns. Maintain the fixed asset register. Reconcile sundry creditor accounts.
Oversee the day-to-day activities of the accounts department and support the finance team. Personal Attributes: Highly organized and methodical. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Requirements
Relevant qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Finance. 5+ years' experience in a full-function bookkeeping role. Experience preparing management accounts. Strong knowledge of General Ledger reconciliations. Experience with debtors, creditors, bank reconciliations, journals, and month-end processes. Experience preparing for year-end audits.
Sound understanding of statutory compliance and financial reporting. Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
