About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale high-performance distributed systems. The role involves working with modern backend technologies including Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL to build resilient, scalable, and real-time data-driven applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Build and maintain event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka
- Develop and optimize data models across: o Cassandra (high-throughput, distributed workloads) o PostgreSQL (transactional systems)
- Implement RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
- Ensure system performance, reliability, and scalability in production environments
- Work on data consistency strategies across distributed systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, DevOps, and Frontend engineers
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design decisions
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues and performance bottlenecks
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code (unit/integration testing) Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience in Java and Spring Boot
- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka (producers, consumers, streams, event design)
- Experience working with: o Cassandra or other NoSQL distributed databases o PostgreSQL or relational databases
- Solid understanding of: o Microservices architecture o Distributed systems concepts o Event-driven systems
- Experience in designing RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of data modeling for both RDBMS and NoSQL
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and deployment pipelines
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills Good to Have
- Experience in payment systems, UPI, or financial services is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of message-driven patterns (event sourcing, CQRS)
- Experience in high-throughput, low-latency systems (like payments/UPI domain)
- Exposure to monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
- Understanding of security best practices
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
