About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale high-performance distributed systems. The role involves working with modern backend technologies including Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL to build resilient, scalable, and real-time data-driven applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services using Java and Spring Boot
  • Build and maintain event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka
  • Develop and optimize data models across: o Cassandra (high-throughput, distributed workloads) o PostgreSQL (transactional systems)
  • Implement RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
  • Ensure system performance, reliability, and scalability in production environments
  • Work on data consistency strategies across distributed systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, DevOps, and Frontend engineers
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design decisions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues and performance bottlenecks
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code (unit/integration testing) Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong experience in Java and Spring Boot
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka (producers, consumers, streams, event design)
  • Experience working with: o Cassandra or other NoSQL distributed databases o PostgreSQL or relational databases
  • Solid understanding of: o Microservices architecture o Distributed systems concepts o Event-driven systems
  • Experience in designing RESTful APIs
  • Knowledge of data modeling for both RDBMS and NoSQL
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and deployment pipelines
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills Good to Have
  • Experience in payment systems, UPI, or financial services is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of message-driven patterns (event sourcing, CQRS)
  • Experience in high-throughput, low-latency systems (like payments/UPI domain)
  • Exposure to monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
  • Understanding of security best practices
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
