Senior Director, Government Affairs - Drive the Government Affairs in a regulated industry
Job description
Set and lead the national government affairs, policy, and advocacy agenda aligned with corporate strategy Develop and execute national and key regional policy strategies to support long-term business objectives Build and manage senior-level relationships with government authorities, regulators, and industry stakeholders Lead advocacy initiatives, coalition-building, and trade association engagement to influence policy outcomes Monitor and assess regulatory, legislative, and macroeconomic developments; advise leadership on risks and opportunities Strengthen government affairs capabilities, including team development and operating effectiveness Manage budgets and resources for complex policy initiatives, ensuring ethical and compliant execution Represent the company in industry forums, committees, and strategic external engagements Requirements Qualifications & Capabilities Deep understanding of legislative and regulatory processes Strong strategic judgment, critical thinking, and policy influence skills Excellent communication and negotiation abilities; comfortable engaging senior decision-makers High ethical standards with strong compliance and discretion Fluent in Japanese and English Willingness to travel domestically and internationally Preferred Experience Background in government, policy advisory, or regulatory-facing roles Experience in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries Advanced degree preferred (e.
