- November 13, 2026 College credit is available through a Victor Valley College Work Experience course. You must be 16 years old for the internship and have Right to Work documents. About the Internship VVWRA is seeking a motivated intern to support its Technology and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) operations. This internship provides hands-on experience in IT support, industrial automation, cybersecurity awareness, and network monitoring—ideal for students in computer science, IT, cybersecurity, or industrial automation pathways.
What You'll Do
As a Technology & SCADA Intern, you’ll contribute to several real-world projects and learn from skilled professionals in a critical infrastructure environment. Tasks may include: Technical Support & IT Operations Help desk support: log, update, and escalate tickets Assist with troubleshooting hardware and software issues Organize IT equipment and maintain asset inventory Support setup and deployment of devices and software Automation & SCADA Support Track inventory for control panel components and SCADA software versions Organize wiring, cables, and spare equipment in control rooms Make basic updates to SCADA Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens Collect feedback from operators to improve screen usability Cybersecurity Awareness & Documentation Help create cybersecurity posters or digital campaigns Research and report on current cyber threats Assist with IT documentation, user guides, and training materials Data & Network Monitoring Input and clean operational and performance data Analyze patterns and support visual report creation Observe network monitoring dashboards and escalate anomalies Assist in mapping industrial networks and updating system documentation Research & Special Projects Participate in special IT or automation projects (software rollouts, upgrades, etc.)
Conduct supervised research on SCADA platforms, PLC technologies, or cybersecurity Help compile and present findings to stakeholders What You’ll Learn Real-world IT support and troubleshooting workflows The basics of SCADA systems and industrial control environments Best practices in cybersecurity, digital safety, and documentation How technology supports infrastructure in public service organizations Qualifications Strong digital literacy and attention to detail Interest in cybersecurity, networking, or automation systems Ability to work independently and in a team setting Ability to obtain a work permit
