Job description

Director of Engineering — AI Native Platforms (IT / OT / Cybersecurity) Austin, TX

  • Hybrid (2 days a week in office) Context & Impact Lansweeper is expanding its engineering leadership with a newly created Director of Engineering role focused on AI-native platform development across IT, OT, and Cybersecurity domains. As Director of Engineering, you will lead high-performing engineering organizations building advanced software platforms, intelligent systems, and scalable infrastructure that combine modern distributed systems engineering with foundational AI and machine learning technologies. You will play a critical leadership role in driving engineering execution, operational excellence, innovation, and organizational growth — while fostering a strong culture of ownership, accountability, technical excellence, and AI-native ways of working. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Austin, Texas with 2 days onsite per week . Challenge Scaling a growing org fast — growing from 3 direct reports plus a distributed Montreal team to ~20 people within 12 months, building engineering processes, culture, and hiring pipeline in parallel with delivery. Staying technical while scaling leadership — this role requires hands-on fluency in C++, Go, or Rust and production-level understanding of LLM/ML technologies, not just organizational oversight of teams that use them. Driving AI-native adoption at scale, not just personally — championing AI-assisted engineering workflows across the org is a hard requirement here, meaning success depends on changing how other engineers work, not just how you work yourself. AI Fluency At Lansweeper, we are building an AI-native engineering culture. We expect all engineers to actively use AI tools (such as Claude) in their day-to-day work to improve efficiency and output quality across the software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, documentation, and system design.

As Director of Engineering, you are expected to actively champion and embed AI-assisted development tools and LLM-based workflows across the engineering organization — not just use them personally but drive their adoption at scale.
