JOB SUMMARY

Performs paraprofessional duties related to agricultural research or animal care. JOB DUTIES: 20% - Fuel Management: Responsible for monitoring fuel levels and oil/lube supplies for research station. Maintain accurate records of consumption and order history. Place orders as needed and coordinate delivery with vendors.

20% - Grounds maintenance: Performs grounds and landscape maintenance of agricultural areas of research station. Operates ditch-bank cutter, backhoe, and other equipment to maintain areas properly.

60% - Crop Research: Assists with experimental projects and revenue crops through field preparation, planting, fertilization, cultivation, spraying, harvesting, and data collection. JOB CODE: LA15 EMPLOYEE TYPE: Time-Limited (TLP) Staff Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and experience in agricultural research or animal care that is directly related to the area of employment. An associate degree in animal health technology or a discipline related to agriculture may be substituted for the required work experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB KNOWLEDGE Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Acts as a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work. BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES Fiscal Responsibilities: Fiscal responsibilities for the department's budget, including but not limited to, financial planning and managing fund allocation PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Move, transport, raise or lower 50 lbs or more: 20% Recognize or inspect visually: 20% Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself: 35% Position self to accomplish task (i.e. stoop, kneel, crawl): 15% Ascend or descend (i.e. stairs, ladder): 20% Use hands or feet to operate or handle machinery, equipment, etc.: 20% Walk or move about: 15% Stand for Prolonged Period: 15% Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period: 20% WORKING CONDITIONS: Mechanical hazards: 20% Chemical hazards: 15% Vibration: 15% Noise: 20% Wet and/or humid: 10% Exposure to dust/fumes: 20% Exposure to heat or cold: 20% WORK SCHEDULE: Standard Hours: 37.5 COMPENSATION INFORMATION: Expected Salary Range 30,000 - 38,000 Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines. ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL: Normal Operations - Required to follow emergency facility closure and modified operations directives, and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
