The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer in managing the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department, ensuring all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems are maintained in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

The role is responsible for overseeing preventive maintenance, repairs, renovation projects, energy conservation initiatives, and compliance with health, safety, fire, and statutory regulations. In the absence of the Chief Engineer, the Assistant Chief Engineer assumes full responsibility for departmental operations while ensuring timely maintenance services and a high standard of guest satisfaction.

The position also promotes collaboration with other departments, provides technical guidance, and ensures engineering team members follow all safety procedures and best practices. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done. Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are: To plan and manage all preventative maintenance work, new projects, extensions, and renovations. To comply with all statutory and legal requirements for fire, health and safety licensing and provide all necessary safety equipment required for work to be carried out efficiently and safely.

To continually monitor the responsible use of energy in the hotel, and implement measures resulting in energy cost savings. To manage the department, in the absence of the Chief Engineer. Ensure that all maintenance requests are prioritised and are dealt with in an efficient manner, by technically proficient and guest-friendly technicians He/she ideally should be certified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
