Systems Architect – Linux & Backup Services

Black & Grey HR is recruiting for a leading technology solutions provider in Doha, Qatar. Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Architect – Linux & Backup Services to lead the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise Linux and backup platforms across on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.

This role focuses on ensuring high availability, security, compliance, and long-term data protection through robust backup and archive strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Backup & Archive Architecture

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise backup and archive platforms (Commvault)
• Define long-term data retention, tiering, and retrieval strategies
• Ensure alignment with business RPO/RTO, compliance, and regulatory requirements
• Design secure, resilient, and cost-optimized archive solutions across on-prem and cloud Disaster Recovery & Resilience
• Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies for business continuity
• Execute and document disaster recovery and restore testing scenarios
• Support integration with multi-site and active-active data center environments Operations & Optimization
• Integrate Linux and backup environments with hybrid/cloud platforms
• Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and lifecycle management
• Optimize storage utilization and costs across tiers
• Drive automation, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives Security & Compliance
• Enforce Linux OS security standards (access control, auditing, hardening)
• Ensure backup data security through encryption and immutability
• Support compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements Monitoring & Reporting
• Implement centralized monitoring, alerting, and reporting
• Define KPIs, dashboards, and system health metrics
• Maintain visibility across hybrid and cloud environments Project Delivery & Leadership
• Lead end-to-end delivery of Linux and backup-related projects
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and administrators
• Maintain architecture documentation, standards, and runbooks Stakeholder Collaboration
• Work closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams
• Act as a technical interface with vendors and business stakeholders
• Communicate technical risks and designs effectively Requirements Experience & Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - 8–10 years of experience in enterprise Linux systems and backup architecture
• Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• Extensive experience with Commvault Backup, Recovery, and Archive solutions Certifications
• Mandatory: Commvault Certification (Backup & Recovery / Archive)
• Preferred: Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE or higher) Technical Skills
• Expert in Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration, hardening, and performance tuning
• Advanced expertise in enterprise backup and archive platforms (Commvault)
• Experience integrating backup/archive solutions with Azure and Google Cloud
• Strong understanding of DR, retention policies, encryption, and compliance controls
• Experience with monitoring, automation, and scripting
• Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills Benefits
