Job description
Role Overview As a Senior Software Engineer – Master Data (MDG), you will be responsible for the design, development, and support of Master Data Management solutions using SAP MDG. You will work with cross-functional teams to configure data models, implement governance workflows, and enable secure data replication across SAP and non-SAP systems.
This role demands hands-on experience with SAP MDG architecture, data governance principles, and SAP integration frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery and Execution Design and configure SAP MDG data models, change request workflows, and governance rules. Develop and maintain replication scenarios using DRF for downstream data distribution. Perform enhancements using ABAP for validations, derivations, and UI logic. Ensure scalable and performance-optimized MDG configurations in Enterprise Data Warehouses.
Support and Enablement Partner with functional consultants, architects, and business teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical MDG solutions. Troubleshoot data flow issues and perform root cause analysis for replication and workflow errors. Maintain comprehensive documentation for configurations, enhancements, and user training.
Support testing cycles, go-live readiness, and hyper care activities with a focus on master data integrity and quality.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. SAP MDG or relevant SAP certification is preferred. Required Experience: 4–7 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years working with SAP MDG. Proven experience in implementing MDG for key domains like Material, Customer, Vendor, or Financial data.
Experience working in large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse environments. Essential Skills: Strong expertise in SAP MDG configuration including data models, entity types, change request types, and governance processes. Proficient in SAP BRF+, FPM, and Workflow design for master data approval flows. Hands-on experience with Data Replication Framework (DRF), ALE/IDoc, and SOA-based data exchange.
Basic to intermediate knowledge of ABAP, especially for enhancements, BADIs, and validations. Strong understanding of data stewardship, governance policies, and golden record management. Desired Skills: Experience with SAP MDG Consolidation and Mass Processing capabilities. Exposure to SAP Fiori apps or NWBC UI enhancements.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) as applied to enterprise master data. Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams across geographies. Understanding of integration with ERP, CRM, and analytics platforms.
