Director, Metals Origination About the Job ICBCS Global Markets offers sales, structuring and trading expertise to our clients across a range of products, with particular strengths in Emerging Markets. Global Markets comprises of two core divisions, namely Commodities and Fixed Income and Currencies (FIC) This is a key role within our busy Precious Metals desk, supporting the development and execution of commercial opportunities with our global client base.

The role is fast-paced and demanding, requiring strong analytical capability, resilience, excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style. What you’ll be doing You’ll be responsible for: Deepen existing relationships with core Metals clients Proactively seeking out new clients that have long-term potential and are aligned with Metals strategy Supporting the origination of Precious and Base Metals opportunities, including assisting in the development of client proposals, product ideas and strategic pitches.

Understanding and facilitate the client onboarding process in accordance with relevant regulatory and internal guidelines. Define and deliver key MI to the Head Metals Origination, including market intelligence and revenue opportunity tracking specific clients and markets Operate within relevant Credit limits Be aware of approved products, including those relevant client needs Maintain an awareness of and comply with all Anti Money Laundering laws, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to ICBC Standard Bank, including those applicable to cross-border LATAM transactions.

What you’ll need to be successful We’re looking for the following skills and experience. If you don’t have all of these but think you could be a good fit for the role, get in touch. Experience in Commodities, Precious or Base Metals, or related financial markets, ideally within an Origination, Structuring, Sales, or broader front-office environment.

Strong understanding of Metals markets, including key products, market drivers and typical client needs. Solid knowledge of derivatives and structured solutions and how these can be used to support client strategies within Metals. Demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality client materials, such as proposals, pitch decks, trade ideas and market commentary.

Experience supporting transaction processes, including credit engagement, documentation workflows and coordination with internal support teams. Experience supporting or contributing to origination activities, such as identifying opportunities, delivering pitches, or developing client strategies. Knowledge of regulatory considerations relevant to Metals and broader commodities markets.
